The Battlefield tour
includes the sightseeing of parts of Stalingrad that are widely known and about
it is written in numerous books and showed in lots of movies. These historical places
are Mamayev Kurgan (Hill 102), "Panorama Stalingrad
battle" museum, the
"Red Square", or the "Square of fallen heroes",
the Central River Crossing,
the Tsaritza river as well as the places that have traditionally been
closed for the
tourist during the Soviet Era and many, many other places.
Some of them are located in the industrial area between the bank of Volga and
the territories around, like the factories "Red October,"
"The Barricades,"Tractor
plant" or the ruins of the Command Posts of the Red Army
at the bank of the
river (North industrial part of city), still visisible today are the remains of walls and
basements of the apartment buildings. We will start this season with these Battlefield
tours and will add more spots and places to our program. These tours will be
something new of its kind since these places have not been shown - to not only
Western -but any tourists. Some of them are located on the outskirts of towns,
these outskirts where locations of the former headquarters of the German 6th Army.
These HQ's where during the battle of Stalingrad at different points such as near
the railroad station at Gumrak and in the gully of the city region
"Stalingrad" known
as "Hartmanstatt" by the Germans. We will take you to the last
German airbase
inside the "Kessel" (encirclement) and to the German airstrip
near "Hartmanstatt"
- where the last German Heinkel HE-111 or Junkers JU-52 took off - as well as to
the central German air base at Pitomnik. We are also planning the
sightseeing of
the Stalingrad-frontline which was built on blood and bones during the air-raids
and artillery bombardment in the summer of 1942.These spots were fired on by
thousands of granates and defended by both Russian and German soldiers in the
same battle: the Russians were holding the line until the last drop of blood in the fall
of 1942 and the Germans were slowly dying without food andammo in the winter
of 1942-43. Places like Kalach, Peskovatka, Vertyachiy,
Karpovka,
Marinovka, New & Old Rogachik, New Alekseevsky
(destroyed), Baburkin
(destroyed), Bunkers (fox burrows) at the Rossoshka river,
Borodkin (destroyed),
Gonchar farm (destroyed), Konnyi and Kotluban,
Samofalovka and "Tatar Wall"
Gorodishe and Orlovka... an many more unknown places
that hold the mystery
of death, but also tells the story of courageous of hundreds or even thousands of
Russian and German soldiers, little stories unknown to us but known to those who
died there. There are no known graves either, the soldiers just died on the open
grassland and sometime the wind blows through an old - full of holes - helmet.
Our guide, Vladimir (historian) will accompany you on our battlefield tour to the
most interesting places. He knows every square meter since he was a young boy.
We have exellent hotels for staying, carefully picked out by our people, or you
choose the hotel by yourself. Our Battlefieldtours have a speciall arrangement for

at Christmas 1942,and also to the area of Nnijnekumsky, Gromoslavka

This is the rail road from Pitomnik area to Stalingrad.
Far in the upper left corner is Gumrak train station.
One day, Germans sow Russians tanks and in
panic ruched to Stalingrad. But that was a false
alarm, because it was only three or four
intelligence tanks. Many german soldiers
were ill or frostbitten and dyed in that rush.
The result was: thousands corpses and
abounded equipments and tracks on a side
of the road for just one day.
This place at the river Don was a passage
for German troops using a ferry.Nearby at
Vertyachiy was main of the axis doing an
advance at Stalingrad in August 1942.
